America has always told its story through its games, and for a century that story has been kept on small rectangles of cardboard. The Heirloom Index is built on a simple belief: that the cards collectors have chased for generations are more than commodities — they are the artifacts of that story. A rookie printed the year a kid from nowhere became a legend. A card that survived a war, a move, a shoebox in an attic. We gather the greatest of them in one place and tell you why each one matters — not as tickers to trade, but as heirlooms to keep and pass down. The market data is here, and it is honest. But the history is the point.
The Heirloom Index began the way most good collections do: with reverence. Somewhere between the spreadsheets and the auction results, it’s easy to forget that these are not tickers — they’re artifacts, each one carrying a piece of why we fell in love with the games in the first place. We built this as the companion to the data tools: a place to experience the history of the hobby’s greatest cards, told with the care they deserve.
Everything here is curated by hand and grounded in a simple line: $5,000-and-up, blue-chip, professionally graded. We track the market honestly — descriptive signals drawn from live listings, never predictions, never advice. The stories are written by hand, and made to last.
When you follow a link from a card to eBay and go on to buy, the Heirloom Index may earn a small commission as an eBay Partner — at no cost to you, and without ever changing the price you pay. That’s what keeps the lights on and the work free. We link to live listings because they’re genuinely useful, never because one pays better than another. If something here helped, that’s the best way to support it.
