The Heirloom Index has no accounts and no logins. We only collect your email if you choose to give it to us, our core analytics is privacy-first and cookieless, the only cookie-based tracking is a Meta advertising pixel we use to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads, and we never sell your information. That’s the whole story — the detail below just spells it out.
Your email — only if you give it. If you sign up to be notified (for example, on The Scout), we collect the email address you submit. That sign-up is handled by our email provider, Buttondown.
Anonymous site analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and cookieless. It measures aggregate traffic — page views, where visitors arrive from, and broad device/country information — without cookies and without identifying you personally.
Advertising measurement (Meta pixel). When we run ads on Facebook or Instagram, a Meta pixel uses cookies to tell us whether an ad led to a visit and to help us reach people similar to our visitors. It can associate your visit with your Meta account. You can opt out through your Meta ad-preference settings or a tracking blocker.
Affiliate link activity (by eBay). Links to eBay are part of the eBay Partner Network. If you click one, eBay may use cookies to credit the visit, and we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. What you do on eBay is governed by eBay’s own privacy policy, not ours.
Web push notifications (optional). If you opt in to browser notifications, our provider OneSignal stores an anonymous browser subscription so we can notify you when a new Weekend Reading edition is published. It uses no email address or personal details, and you can turn it off anytime in your browser’s notification settings.
Standard hosting logs. The site is served by GitHub Pages, which may keep ordinary server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability.
We use your email only to send what you signed up for — for example, a note when a feature launches, or a future newsletter. We use analytics to understand what’s useful and improve the site. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Only the services that make the site work or help us reach new collectors: Buttondown (email), Cloudflare (cookieless analytics, and a signup relay that hands your email to Buttondown), Meta (the Facebook/Instagram advertising pixel), OneSignal (web push notifications), the eBay Partner Network (affiliate links), and GitHub Pages (hosting). Each has its own privacy policy.
Our analytics (Cloudflare) is cookieless. We do use a Meta advertising pixel that sets cookies to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and to reach people who’ve visited the site; you can opt out through your Meta ad-preference settings, your browser or device privacy controls, or a tracking blocker. Third parties you click through to — chiefly eBay — may also set their own cookies.
You can unsubscribe from emails anytime using the link in any email we send, or by writing to us. Because our analytics doesn’t track individuals, there’s nothing personal to delete on that side. If you’ve subscribed and want your email removed, just ask and we’ll take care of it.
The site isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
We may update this policy as the site grows; the date below reflects the latest version. Questions? Write to support@theheirloomindex.com.
