Two gold MLB logo patches, worn by Shohei Ohtani in recognition of his back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards, set side by side on a single card. One is from the road in Baltimore on September 7, 2025, the night he hit his forty-seventh and forty-eighth home runs of a fifty-five-homer year; the other is from a home game on April 12, 2026. It is signed twice, once in English and once in the kanji of his name, and numbered 1/1. It was the chase card of 2026 Topps Chrome.
Topps issued it in 2026 Topps Chrome, released July 22, as a redemption. A collector pulled it at a shop in Boca Raton, Florida. Topps announced the find on July 30, and the next day it sold in a private transaction that Fanatics reported at $11 million, the third-highest figure yet reported for a sports card. That number appears nowhere in our data and never will: the sale was private, with no auction and no record anyone can check. We record what can be shown. What is not in question is the object, a one-of-one that holds two nights of a career without precedent.
