In 1986-87 Magic Johnson was named the league's Most Valuable Player for the first time, and the Lakers won the championship, his fourth. He was the Finals MVP as well.
Fleer's second basketball set came out the next season, again 132 cards and eleven stickers, and it was printed in far smaller numbers than the first. Magic is #56.
The design traded the red, white and blue of 1986-87 for white and gray stripes. LAKERS runs across the top in large purple and gold letters, his name sits at the bottom in gold, and the photograph shows him in the gold home jersey, number 32, looking off to one side.
The card of the season after his first MVP. The Lakers won again that year.
The season it was sold, the Lakers won again. It was the fifth and last championship of his career.
Off-center copies are common in this set, and the gray stripes show any chipping along the edges.
