Topps Chrome's 1998 football set has 165 cards, and Peyton Manning's is the last of them.
Off the ground, ball cocked, on the last card in the set.
It is a lively picture. Manning is in the air, knees up, the ball cocked behind his head, in the Colts' dark jersey, number 18, against a blue sky. DRAFT PICKS and Peyton Manning run up a curving strip on the right, the horseshoe sits in the lower corner, and the whole card is framed in gold.
The set came in four-card packs, and its only parallel was the Refractor, one in twelve packs. Refractors of this era are prone to greening with age.
He won five Most Valuable Player awards, in 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2013, and two Super Bowls, one with Indianapolis and one with Denver, the first quarterback to win the game starting for two teams.
He went into the Hall of Fame in 2021, alongside Charles Woodson, who had beaten him for the Heisman Trophy in 1997.
