Jim Brown came to Cleveland in 1957 and was the league's Rookie of the Year and its Most Valuable Player in the same season. In 1958, a schedule of only twelve games, he ran for 1,527 yards and was named MVP again. Topps had given him his rookie card that year. This is the one that followed.

The 1959 set has 176 cards in two series of 88, and #10 falls in the first, the scarcer of the two; the second series appears to have been printed in larger numbers.

It is a posed picture, not an action shot. Brown stands chest-on to the camera in the brown jersey, number 32, against a bright blue ground, with the Browns' old elf mascot tucked into the upper corner and JIMMY BROWN spelled out beneath him in red and blue capitals, over FULLBACK and CLEVELAND BROWNS.

Two MVP awards in his first two seasons. This was the card of the third.

The backs carried a scratch-off trivia question, and many were scratched off with a coin. In 1959 he led the league again, with 1,329 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The white borders tone with age, the edges wear, and centering varies. Cards from the edge of the printed sheet are harder still to find in high grade.
