Mike Trout's 2011 Bowman Chrome Draft card, #101, is listed as a rookie card; the copy pictured is the Refractor.

It came in the 2011 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects product, released that November, where all 110 base cards also came in Chrome, one Chrome base card and one Chrome prospect to a pack. The Refractor is unnumbered and fell about once in four hobby packs. Blue to 199, Gold to 50, Orange to 25, Red to 5 and two cards of one sit above it. It is easy to confuse with 2011 Bowman Chrome, a different product, where his card is #175.

The border is black, around a photograph with rounded corners. He is in the Angels' gray road uniform and red batting helmet, in his stance, a crowd behind him, under the RC logo. Bowman Chrome is lettered in green near the bottom, and the Angels logo, MIKE TROUT and OF run along the foot. On the Refractor the black border catches the light.

Bowman Chrome Draft, not Bowman Chrome: the same year, a different card.

The back gives a short account of his rise to the top of the prospect lists and his debut that July.

He hit .220 in 40 games that first summer. The next year he was the unanimous Rookie of the Year.
