Selling sports cards through Alt
Alt is a marketplace that runs auctions for vintage and modern cards. What it costs to consign, when you are paid, the deadlines, and who to ask for.
In short. Alt adds a 20% buyer’s premium to the hammer price. There is no seller’s commission.
No house pays to appear here or to appear higher.
What follows is what Alt publishes, or has told us directly, with the date we last checked.
It is not a recommendation, and nothing here is a view on what your cards are worth.
We also buy cards ourselves; that has no bearing on anything written here.
What it costs to consign, and when you are paid
- What it costs to sell
-
No seller's commission
No seller's fee on auction proceeds. The consignor receives the hammer price plus a seller bonus, 104% to 115% of hammer depending on submission value and rewards tier. The fixed-price marketplace instead charges the seller 5% to 14% on a sliding scale by price.
- When you get paid
-
Not published
Proceeds are credited to the seller's Alt account once the buyer's payment settles, after any cash advance is repaid.

- Deadlines
-
At least one week before the auction opens. Cards must already be graded (PSA, BGS, SGC or CGC) and held in Alt's vault.
- How often they sell
- A new two-week auction opens every Friday, so one closes every Thursday β extended bidding from 9 PM ET.
What a buyer pays on top
The buyer's premium at Alt is 20% of the hammer price.
Applies to Alt auctions, added on top of the hammer price. The fixed-price marketplace charges the buyer nothing.
It is paid by the winning bidder, not by you — but bidders know it is coming, so it shapes what they are
willing to bid.
