Derek Jeter's Stadium Club rookie came packed in a plastic ballpark. In March 1993 Topps issued a 200-card Stadium Club set sold only inside a molded replica of San Diego's Jack Murphy Stadium, where the 1992 All-Star Game had been played. It was a hobby set, made in a run of 128,000, and none of it came in packs.
It came packed in a plastic ballpark, and nowhere else.
Inside were 100 draft picks, 56 All-Stars, the 1992 U.S. Olympic team, postseason cards and a few oversize photographs. Jeter is #117, and this set is the only place his card can be found.
It uses the 1992 Stadium Club design, a photograph running to the edges. Jeter is in a navy Yankees cap and jersey with a bat up on his shoulder and the stands behind him, and along the bottom, in gold, the Stadium Club logo, his name and 1992 DRAFT PICK.
The box and the card copyrights both read 1992.
One set guide ranks it second among his rookie cards, behind the SP, and calls it perhaps the harder of the two to find, because it never came in packs.
