The Yankees took Derek Jeter sixth overall in June 1992, out of Central High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In 1993 he was playing shortstop for Greensboro in the Class A South Atlantic League, and Upper Deck put him at the end of its Top Prospects run, #421 through #449, in the second series of an 840-card set.

He is reaching high for the ball, glove up over his head, in a pinstriped uniform and a green cap, with trees behind him. A TOP PROSPECT badge sits in the lower corner, the Upper Deck logo in the upper one, and DEREK JETER, SS along a gold bar at the foot. It is one of the largest photographs on any of his rookie cards.

Glove high, in a green cap, two years before his first big-league game.

The back carries a second picture and Upper Deck's silver hologram. A version with a gold hologram came only in certain factory sets, and there was no way to tell which ones without breaking the seal.

It is the one rookie card of note in the set, and Upper Deck printed a great many.

Two years later he made his debut, in Seattle, on May 29, 1995.
